This course assumes actors have had previous training in screen acting and a foundational understanding of Sense Memory and Inner Dialogue
Course Overview:
Actors will explore sense memory and inner dialogue through improvisation, scenario work and script work to practise, hone and extend their skills with these tools.
Actors will work with two scripts during the course to apply their sensory and inner dialogue tools to preparation, exploration and delivery as well as redirection. In addition to working in pairs and teams, actors will also work on applying these tools in a self-tape scenario
Course Outcomes:
building a scene and characters from descriptive information; using imagination to extend from real space and create the world of the character; Practising saying YES
applying imagination to scripts - SCRIPT 1
Physical stimuli and the out-side in work
Objective and actions - Breaking down Scripts - paying attention to clues, cues and character information - identify information to determine choices for actions and physicality
SCRIPT STUDY Objective and actions- apply to filming scenes
SELF TAPING - Apply tools to self taping - Choose a character from Script 1 or Script 2 to tape.
Preparation:
Actors will be invited to submit a filmed monologue choice and/or the script of the monologue before week 1

Course Overview:
Actors will work with verbatim as well as scripted monologues - Actors will bring in up to two monologues they would like to explore in class and will be provided with additional monologues/options to work with.
Actors will apply acting processes of improvisation, inner dialogue, script analysis, objectives and imagination to monologue exploration, choices and delivery in class and in self tapes.
Actors will apply monologue work to inform self tape scenes.
Course Outcomes:
To strengthen monologue exploration, choices and delivery for screen.
To practise, apply and hone acting tools and fitness through monologue work.
To extend character and scene understanding through monologue work.
Actors will submit 4 monologue self tapes in the 8 week course as well as optional linked self tape scenes.
*Actors are encouraged to bring a USB in with them to collect footage they would like to keep from class.
Preparation:
Please submit a self tape of a scripted monologue prior to the course (between 1min-4min) and please send through the script of the monologue with it.
Please find at least one additional contrasting monologue to work on through the course. (around 3 minutes and not too much longer).
Watch this reminder of Larry Moss' advice about the work actors should do every day and the way monologues can be a part of that.
There is a limit of 10 places for this course.
Please Note - if it is not the right time for an Industry Pace level course for you but you would still like to be in regular practise we will be running a Scene Study Monologues course that has fewer monologues and less taping but still working on monologue skills. If you would prefer that, the course info will be sent out soon to the wider Nicholson's Academy group.

Refresh & Reconnect

Age Restricted 17+Feeling Rusty? Join our Refresh and Reconnect course for trained actors wanting to return to match fitness for scene work and auditions.
The focus will be on reconnecting with acting processes, stretching acting muscles and playing with creative choices. We refer to processes such as Adler, Strasberg and Meisner as options to prepare and explore scene work and play with character choices.
Actors will participate in exercises incorporating both improvisation and scripted scene work to recharge and stretch their acting muscles. Filming will happen most weeks and links to this will be sent to actors. We will also discuss how to apply process to self taping
